DIPLOMA IN site management

This course is designed to prepare craftsmen or supervisors who have decided on a ‘career change’ and who have a desire to become involved in the management of construction projects. Those who wish to take this course must have the ambition to undertake site management and inspection duties rather than being operatives within their trade. The course will also assist in the preparation for your annual review/assessment which will generally be undertaken by Senior Management.

The course comprises of four selected subject areas chosen from the list of 20 single subject areas to be found on the school website (an example being )

• Construction Technology
• Site Procedure and Administration
• Material Science & Testing / Estimating & Analysis of Pricing
• Management Introduction / Facilities Management / Project Management

The subject material is considerable, and requires a serious undertaking, which should be looked upon as a technical update of your working knowledge, thus preparing you for any future role within your company or local authority.

The course may take up to twelve months to complete, depending upon your previous experience and the amount of time you can study each week. Students will be required to prepare a ‘Student Information Portfolio ‘ (SIP) during their studies on the course, which will assist in the preparation of the technical answers.

On enrolment you will be sent the various study packs which you can undertake either at home or at your place of employment. You may find it useful to arrange the assistance of a mentor to assist you should you require guidance undertaking the work.

On successful completion of the course a Premier School of Building ‘Diploma in Site Management’ will be awarded and it is anticipated that many students who complete this course will progress onto the new ‘Advanced Diploma in Site Management.’

The success of this course is due to the flexibility of choice that the student has from the large number of areas available, reflecting his/hers past and future areas of expertise.
